Lapidary clubs teach the ancient arts of cutting gemstones, many of which we find on field trips run by the club. The club has a very well equipped workroom, faceting machines, diamond saws, silver jewellery making tools & facilities and have a panel of expert and very patient teachers.

Beginners are encouraged to produce work of a high standard, and are given sufficent material to produce three beautiful stones when they join. Material is always on sale in the club rooms.

We have a number of sessions per week where we teach cutting, silver jewellery, carving and opal cutting.

Faceting is taught on the club machines. Advice from those who facet at home is freely given, and the Moreton Branch of the Aust. Facetors Guild meet at the clubrooms several times a year.

The club has a mineral and fossil collection on display which is added to as specimens become available.

The club runs about ten field trips a year, most of one days duration although at least one a year will be from a few days to a week. Help is given to beginners to identify finds.

Social get togethers are held several times a year, and a couple of times a year fundraisers are held. The chief of these is our annual show and competition which is held on the last Saturday of May every year. This is when we all show off our accomplishments for the year!

Just imagine - Cutting your own gems and setting them in silver or gold.
