Membership of the club has always been very active and strong.
The growth of the beginning years was strong with a membership climbing steadily from the 70 of late 1964 to 195 in 1966 and a peak of 250 adults and 200 juniors in October 1967 - which must have meant long queues to get access to equipment!
Today the figures are more comfortable with a good core of long term members. The club successfully applied to the Justice Department for incorporation in 1984. Mt Gravatt Lapidary Society Inc. looks forward in the knowledge that it will continue to bring members of the community together in fellowship in the enjoyment of a fascinating and challenging hobby.
